Operations & Service Status

As our nation responds to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, we remain committed to making certain that we support each other as members of the Rutgers University–Camden community.
While all of this is happening, we want you to know that the university is open and operating. The majority of offices are now available via web conferencing, email, and phone instead of in-person so that we can serve all of our students wherever they are.  For some students this will feel very normal, and for others it will take some getting used to.  Please know that we are here for you and available and you should feel free to reach out and schedule meetings with all of the offices listed. As always, we are here to help you succeed and reach your goals – just in a new format. 
 
Regardless of where you are learning, teaching, or working, please be certain to follow basic health precautions, including maintaining reasonable social distancing. All are urged to review the precautions posted on the Rutgers website. Members of the Rutgers University–Camden community are asked make certain that their emergency contact information is current in order to receive urgent communications from Rutgers.
 
Information about how Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is operating will continue to be provided by the Emergency Operations Center and other university-wide offices. The Rutgers coronavirus website remains the definitive resource for official and up-to-date news about this situation as it relates to our university.
 
The following information reflects the operating status of campus offices and how students can continue to access services.
 
Academic Advising: Status – Available online
 
     The College of Arts and Sciences Academic Advisors will be conducting virtual online appointments. If you wish to schedule an advising appointment

     The Honors College Advisors will be conducting online and phone appointments.
 
Athletics & Fitness Center: Status – Available online, building Closed
In response to the University’s operating status, the Athletic and Fitness Center is closed and will remain closed until further notice.  Updates regarding the operating status will be posted at recreation.camden.rutgers.edu.  In the meantime, all athletics and recreation staff members as well as coaches are available remotely.  Contact them via email to schedule a time to meet.  Contact information is available here:  https://scarletraptors.com/staff-directory
 
Bookstore:  Status – Available online 
The Bookstore is working remotely.  If any student wants to ship their rental back, please follow the instructions below:
1.     visit our website, UniversityDistrict.bncollege.com
2.     hover over the "Textbooks" tab at the top and click "Textbook Rentals"
3.     scroll down and click the "Rental Return" button
4.     enter your order ID and email address to generate the label
Following these instructions will generate a label for you return your textbook via USPS.

Campus Center: Status - Open (hours of operation 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays)
The Campus Center has moved to reduced hours of operation with minimal staffing support. Additionally, the Campus Center administrative staff will be primarily working remotely during this time. All community and student organization-based spaces, including large gathering spaces, will remain closed during this time, including but not limited to The Corner, Scarlet Lounge, Student Leader Lounge, Greek Lounge, Student Veterans Lounge, Interfaith & Meditation Room, WCCR Radio Station, The Gleaner, and more.
 
Camden College of Arts and SciencesStatus – Available online

Career Center: Status – Available online
The Career Center will continue to communicate with students about upcoming programs and events as well as helpful resources through our weekly e-mail communications.
     
     Employment Services:
  • Job/Internship Applications: Rutgers-Camden Handshake is  available and an excellent resource for those seeking job and internship opportunities.
  • Spring Job & internship Fair: The Spring Job & Internship fair scheduled for April 1 has been canceled. The Career Center is working on arrangements to provide a Virtual Spring Job & Internship Fair later in April and will notify students with more details once the event plans are confirmed.
  • Currently Employed: Students currently working in an internship or job should check in with their employer to see if you should still report to work. For those earning credit for your internship, contact your internship course instructor for additional information. 
     Career Preparation Resources:
  • Currently Scheduled Appointments: We will convert all currently scheduled career advising appointments to virtual meetings or phone appointments. If you have an appointment, Career Center staff will contact you about moving your appointment virtual as your meeting date approaches.
  • New Appointments and Inquiries: Students who would like to schedule a new virtual appointment can now request a virtual meeting with a career counselor via Rutgers-Camden Handshake. Click on the Career Center tab within your Handshake account to schedule your appointment.
  • Online Resources: The Career Center website is a robust resource for online career tools to assistance with major and career clarification, resume samples, mock interviews, job & internship search, and more.
  • Quick Questions: If you have questions about your career/major decisions, job/internship search or applying to graduate school that may not require an appointment, please email your question tocareercenter@camden.rutgers.edu. We will respond to your email as quickly as possible.
  • Resume, Cover Letter, Graduate School Essay Critique: The Career Center will continue to provide our critique services. Email the documents you would like critiqued to careercenter@camden.rutgers.eduWhen sending documents, send as a Word attachment or Google doc. Be sure to use your name to name your document (ex. Kaitlyn Jones Resume). The Career Center will critique your documents and return them to you via email as soon as possible. 
  • Scheduled Workshops & Seminars: Where possible, the Career Center will be moving previously scheduled workshops and seminars to WebEx. You can view the Career Center scheduled events in Handshake and on the Career Center events site.
 
Dean of Students OfficeStatus – Open & available online
The Dean of Students Office is currently open, but most staff members are working remotely and will be primarily telecommuting during normal business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) until further notice.  During this time, staff will be most accessible via email.  Staff will do their best to respond to all inquiries received as soon as possible and will make arrangements to speak via phone/WebEx as needed. Click here for up-to-date contact information and to schedule a virtual appointment.
 
DiningStatus – Open with limited service
The Market will be open for take-out only from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays
1.     The Retail Food Court will be open for take-out only during 8:30 to 10 a.m. (breakfast), 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (lunch), and 5 to 6 p.m. (dinner) weekdays; during weekends, the Retail Food Court will be open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (brunch) and 4 to 6:30 p.m. (dinner)
2.     Maintain social distancing by using the Rutgers-Camden dining app
3.     The All-You-Care-To-Eat dining hall and Starbucks are closed
4.     The cafes located in the Law School Complex and in the Nursing and Science Building are closed.
 
Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF): Status – Available online
The EOF staff will be conducting virtual online appointments. If you wish to schedule an appointment with your EOF counselor you may do so through raptor connect.  Appointments will be conducted through telephone or WebEx video conferencing. Financial Aid: Status – Available online
Students can contact The Office of Financial Aid via email (finaid@camden.rutgers.edu). Staff are responding to all inquiries Monday through Friday during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).  Students can submit/upload their financial aid documents online at www.financialaid.rutgers.edu
 
Food Pantry: Status – Available limited hours
The Food Pantry is accessible from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. serving students in person.  To schedule an appointment, call 856-225-6005. Please click here for more information about Wellness Center services.  The Food Pantry is accessible by appointment or during the open hours.

Housing and Residence Life: Status – Open & Available online

Human ResourcesStatus: Available online
Please be advised the Camden HR team will be primarily telecommuting.  During this time, we will be most accessible via email and available during normal business hours 
(8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).  We will do our best to respond to all inquiries received as soon as possible and will make arrangements to speak via phone/WebEx/Skype as needed.
 
We have suspended drop-in hours for completion of the I-9 for employment verification for new employees. These may be completed by appointment only for the foreseeable future, as individuals are required to be physically present to provide original identification documents. Please reach out to Natalie Barron directly if you have questions/concerns regarding I-9s.

Kite+Key Tech Store: Status – Available via web and email
With the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak being felt more each day, kite+key®, Rutgers Tech Store is suspending walk-in services at all three locations. We remain committed to providing excellent customer service to the Rutgers community in the safest environment possible. We will be accepting orders online through our website (kiteandkey.rutgers.edu) and will be available to discuss our products and services by email and phone.

The Law School Admissions office will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
Law School Admissions will have virtual hours via Zoom and Webex on Friday at 10:30 a.m. and at 2:30 p.m. VIRTUAL ADMISSIONS will be held for one hour.
 
Law School Student Affairs: Status – Open 
The Law School Student Affairs office will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. M, T, Th, F. In addition, there will be virtual office hours on Mondays at noon, Tuesdays at 5 pm; Wednesdays at 10:30 am and 5 pm. students can walk in, but they will be strongly encouraged

     Online Tutor via Smarthinking
     Online tutoring is available via Smarthinking. This support service allows students to connect with online tutors across a wide variety of subject areas 24 hours a day.

     Smarthinking is a service that is only available to currently enrolled Rutgers University-Camden Students. Therefore, you must have your RUID and password to log in. Android and IOS apps are available so students can log on via their mobile devices.
 
     Peer-to-Peer Tutoring
     Beginning on March 23, the Learning Center will resume tutoring sessions virtually through WebEx. Students will still go to https://learn.camden.rutgers.edu/ to schedule a tutoring appointment with a Learning Center peer tutor. When students receive their tutoring confirmation  
     email, a WebEx link will be embedded in the notification. This link will provide students with access to the virtual tutoring session.  Students must click on this link at the scheduled appointment time and their tutoring session will begin. If there are any issues with the link

     Review Sessions
