I. Accept Admission. You accept admission to
Rutgers-Camden by confirming your attendance ( and sending in deposit).
The easiest way to accept your admission and pay the $125 nonrefundable
acceptance fee is to do so online through your Rutgers status screen
at https://www.acs.rutgers.edu/ugstat.
You may also submit your payment along with your admissions acknowledgement
form included in your packet.
A. Official high school transcript received by Rutgers-Camden
B. If applicable, send in any AP scores or college transcripts
for transfer credits to Rutgers-Camden Admissions Office, 406
Penn Street, Camden, NJ 08102
You will receive notice from the Office of the Registrar, http://registrar.rutgers.edu/CMINDEX.HTM 856-225-6053)
that you have been awarded credit for the courses for which official
transcripts or score reports were submitted as well as the Rutgers-Camden
equivalency for the course(s). You can also see your online transcript
through the same website to confirm that the courses have been
posted using your Rutgers Netid and password.
II. Placement Testing. You receive notification
from the Office of Admissions about signing up for the next placement
test - via email as well as a link through the enrollment pathway
with information about placement testing (http://cems.rutgers.edu/admissions/1600.php ,
856-225-6104). Almost all freshmen will require placement testing.
You will be contacted with the date for your test, along with a
link for confirming your attendance. A reminder will be sent a
week prior to the test date.
A. There are three placement tests offered on each test date:
1. Math - required for all freshmen unless they have college
credit (through AP or college transcript) for pre-calculus
or calculus.
2. English - required for all students with less than 500
on the verbal/critical reading part of the SAT. Students with
a score of 500 or greater on the SAT verbal/critical reading
are exempt from this exam
3. Foreign Language (Spanish, French and German) - required
for students majoring in Arts and Sciences and planning to
continue in the language that they studied in high school.
NOTE: The Elementary II level or higher of a spoken foreign
language is a graduation requirement for all Arts & Sciences
majors at Rutgers-Camden - therefore it is recommended that
all students who studied a foreign language in high school
take this exam in order to continue in their language right
away.
B. The sooner that students take the placement tests, the sooner
they will be able to register for classes. Therefore this is
a CRITICAL STEP in the enrollment process.
C. When registering for the placement test, students are asked
to complete a questionnaire that will help advisors in registering
students for the appropriate courses.
III. Registration and Advising.
Once placement testing is completed, freshmen may sign up for “Keys
to Success”. This program will introduce new students
to the college and provide guidance in selecting classes. Generally,
students will select an English and math course based on the results
of the placement test, a freshman seminar and 1 or 2 courses in
the prospective major. See the helpful

IV. Financial Aid. The earliest date to submit
your FAFSA is January 1st for the next academic year. The Rutgers
University priority filing deadline for the 2007-2008 academic
year is March 15th. The FAFSA application is available online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.

VI. Orientation.
A. Students attend orientation prior to school starting to learn
details about Rutgers-Camden, degree requirements, services offered
on campus, and to meet with other students and classmates. Information

B. There are two orientation dates in the summer
1. Traditional orientation is scheduled for two days in mid
August. Students have the option of staying overnight to have
the opportunity to stay in the residence halls and get to know
fellow classmates.
2. Non-traditional orientation (for students 25 and older)
is scheduled for an evening one week prior to the start of
classes to familiarize students with Rutgers-Camden, discuss
degree requirements and allow students to learn of the services
and programs offered.

if it is, your placement test date with a link for online
confirmation of your attendance.

B. Updated Transcripts. If you are in courses when you apply
and/or are accepted, updated transcripts must be sent in once
that semester is completed. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to let the advisor
know when you are registering what courses are currently IN PROGRESS,
so that you do not take courses for which you will not receive
credit.
C. Official high school transcript or GED must also be received
by Rutgers-Camden
II. Placement Testing. Once your transcript is
evaluated and it is determined that you will need/not need placement
testing, you receive notification from the Office of Admissions
about signing up for the next placement test (or that placement
testing is not needed)- via email as well as a link through the
enrollment pathway to confirm registration for placement testing. PLEASE
NOTE - many transfer students do not require placement testing
as they are receiving credit for college level courses in English,

Advising Offices, will be available to assist you in making appropriate

B. Online Registration - Web Registration. If you choose web
registration, click on the link here to go to the webreg site: https://webreg.rutgers.edu.
The student number is currently your social security number and
the personal access code is the month and day of your birth (4
digits using zeros-mmdd). This link will also take you to the
schedule of classes – just choose Camden and the subject – red
classes are closed, green classes are open. Online registration
allows students the opportunity to register at their convenience
for courses.
1. Along with online registration comes student responsibility
to register for the correct courses in the correct sequence
necessary to meet graduation requirements in the time students
have planned. Should you choose to register online without
assistance of an advisor, you are solely responsible for your
schedule and the Office of Student Affairs will not assume
responsibility for incorrect, repeated or unnecessary courses.
2. ALL STUDENTS ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED to contact School

and Arts and Sciences faculty in their departments for advising,
even after you have registered, to review your schedule, review

Returning Students
Returning at Rutgers-Camden - Continuing successfully
as registered students progressing toward a degree at Rutgers-Camden
Registration and Advising. Registration occurs
during advance registration, in the middle of the semester prior
to the one being registered for (November for Spring registration,
March for Fall and Summer registration), all the way through the
first week of classes. See the helpful
links for more information on advising, degree requirements
and schedules. Students can register in person or through
web registration.
A. Advising. ALL Students are encouraged to meet with advisors
(both general and faculty in their majors/minors/certificate
programs) prior to advance registration to discuss their plans,
review their progress and plan out courses that will work for
them, with several alternatives. Then when the advance registration
schedule comes out, students will be better able to develop a
schedule that works for them and register for courses quickly.
School of Business students should contact the School of Business

What immunizations do I need? All students entering
Rutgers-Camden must have the Meningococcal (meningitis) vaccination,
2 doses of MMR, and a tuberculosis skin test. Call Health Services

Where do I get student health insurance? Full
time students have a fee included in their tuition bill for the
Rutgers University Health Services and BASIC Insurance. This has
a maximum benefit of $5,000 for each injury or illness. Additional
coverage may be purchased with maximum benefits of $50,000 or $100,000
for each injury or illness. Part-time students may also purchase

What is orientation like? Is orientation mandatory? Orientation
is a mandatory program that allows you to become more familiar
with what the campus has to offer and what to expect in your classes;
it also offers an opportunity to meet other students. There will
be various sessions covering topics that will help you make your
transition to Rutgers a smooth one. You will also have the opportunity
to stay over in the dorms between the 1st and 2nd days of orientation.

How do I know what books to buy? Where can I buy my books? Your
schedule of classes will serve as a guide to purchasing your books.

Use your course numbers to determine the selected textbooks for
your classes and select to have them shipped or pick them up. You

as new or used (at a discounted price).
What is a Net-ID? How do I set one up? Your Net-ID
will allow you to access many campus services, including email,
WEB-CT, My.Rutgers Portal, and transcript requests. You can set
this up by going to any student computer lab, or on the web through

Where do I get my student ID and what is a RUID? Student
IDs are required for all students. They serve not only as your
identification, but also as your library card and debit card. You
can get your ID at the IMPACT booth in the lobby of the campus

What food choices do I have when I eat on campus? Dining
services offers a variety of food choices, including the Food Court,
Sandella’s/Hersheys, Starbucks, the Courtyard Restaurant,
Armitage Snacks, and the Corner. The Food Court includes a grill,

What are my meal plan options? Undergraduate
students living on campus have the choice of 3 meal plans. Items
in Dining Services are sold individually, so you only pay for as
much food as you choose. Your student ID works as a debit card
for purchasing your meals. Students may also add “Camden
Cash” to their accounts, which can be used for meals, bookstore
purchases, IMPACT booth ticket purchases, and other campus services.

Where can I park on campus? How do I obtain a parking
permit? Daytime commuter students may park in lot 7,
located at the Camden waterfront. Shuttle bus service runs regularly
to take students to several stops on campus and back. At night,
lots 1 and 14 are also open to students and lot 2 is open to
students with a special guaranteed night-time parking permit.
Parking permits may be purchased at the Bursar’s Office,
327 Cooper Street. The permit is a decal and hangtag and both
must be displayed at all times. The permit is valid from September
1 to August 31. A daytime permit may be purchased for the spring
semester for $124.75. There are also spring semester nighttime

What are my other transportation options for getting to
campus? The PATCO speedline has services from Lindenwold,
NJ and Philadelphia, PA that stop one block from Rutgers-Camden.
The NJ Transit River Line offers service from Trenton to Camden
and includes a Rutgers University stop on Cooper Street. NJ Transit
also offers numerous bus routes that arrive at the Walter Rand
Transportation Center in Camden. Rutgers offers shuttle bus service
from the transportation center to campus. NJ Transit also offers

I will live in the dorms. Can I have my car on campus?
Where can I park? Students may have their car on campus.
You must purchase a resident student parking permit from the
Bursar’s office at 327 Cooper Street. You may park in lots
12 or 13, both located on 3rd Street near the dorms.

What activities are on campus? How do I get involved? There
are over a hundred student organizations on campus, including the
Art Students League, Black Student Union, Honors Student Organization,

What kind of events can I attend on campus and off campus? Several
campus offices along with student-run organizations regularly host

is part of the NCAA Division III. Fall sports include Women’s
